Pop music appeared to cement its status as an albums-driven genre in 2025, according to Billboard. Rising stars such as Addison Rae and Amaarae established themselves as major voices without relying on a single chart-topping hit, while Olivia Dean and the soundtrack for the KPop Demon Hunters film produced multiple hits from their respective albums. Established acts like PinkPantheress and Rosalía further reinforced their stardom with new releases, and comeback albums from Lily Allen and Lorde highlighted the enduring appeal of veteran pop artists.

On the commercial front, Bad Bunny demonstrated his continued dominance with a January sneak-release that remained a year-long success, while Lady Gaga secured another Billboard 200-topping album. Sabrina Carpenter followed up her 2024 breakthrough with another hit LP in quick succession, and Taylor Swift set new records with her October release, which maintained strong sales into the holiday season.

Pop was not the only genre to shine. In rap, Clipse delivered one of the year’s most celebrated comeback albums, and Tyler, The Creator followed up his 2024 smash less than nine months later. In rock, Geese impressed critics, while Lola Young and Sombr demonstrated the genre’s crossover potential. Country artists Zach Top and Morgan Wallen also made significant commercial and critical impacts.

According to Billboard, these releases represent just some of the 50 albums that defined 2025, spanning a wide array of genres and showcasing both established and emerging talent.
