The iconic popstar was arrested on March 4th 2026 on a southern California highway after driving her BMW "erratically at a high rate of speed", authorities said.
Earlier this month she appeared in court and avoided jail time after she pleaded guilty to a lesser charge following her arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Spears has made her first public appearance since the March DUI arrest resulted in a stay in a rehab facility. She returned to the public eye by posting an Instagram post which showed Spears and her kids in a pet store. The '...Baby One More Time' singer then said that "snakes are symbolic of good health, higher consciousness, and pure luck … I’m so damn thankful to my friends and so many new beautiful people I have met through my spiritual journey,” although she did not reveal too much detail on her spiritual journey.
"All a blessing in disguise. I still have to learn how to be kind to myself and the way I speak to myself… It’s a never ending journey and sometimes I just stop, look up and say wow God I think that was you and smile on!!!!” she continued.
The singer received a year long probation on May 4th after pleading guilty through her attorney to a misdemeanor charge known as “wet reckless,” which is a downgrade to a DUI charge.
Spears reportedly checked herself into a rehabilitation treatment facility afterwards. Her representatives have called the incident "completely inexcusable".
A statement from her lawyer Michael Goldstein said, "Through her plea today, Britney has accepted responsibility for her conduct. She has taken significant steps to implement positive change which is clearly reflected in the Ventura County District Attorney's decision to reduce the charge in this case and dismiss the DUI."
