The American pop star, best known for her hit Pink Pony Club, brought glitter, energy and a lot of love to the main stage, and the 80,000-strong crowd gave it right back in roars of applause.

The Laois festival marked the final stop on her Visions of Damsels & Other Dangerous Things European tour, and she didn’t hold back when it came to thanking her Irish fans. After the show, she jumped on Instagram to say: “What a dream come true. Thank you for showing up, waiting in long lines, standing in the summer rain and wind, and giving it your all. We are so grateful for all the love on and off the stage — it’s bonkers.”
She didn’t stop there. Roan admitted Ireland has given her something no other country has: “Thank you for showing up. Ireland has stood up for me in a way that no other country has. Thank you for being there for me.”
The gig wrapped up her time in Europe, but she won’t be resting for long. After a quick nap, as she joked online, she’ll head back to the US where every show is already sold out. From there it’s on to Mexico and South America, with thousands of fans waiting in Argentina, Brazil and Chile.
Electric Picnic itself was one for the books this year. Alongside Roan’s sparkly pop anthems, fans were treated to sets from Hozier, Fatboy Slim, the Saw Doctors and The Coronas, making it one of the most talked-about line-ups in years. And if you’re hoping to get to next year’s festival, you’re already too late. All 80,000 tickets sold out in just 90 minutes last week.
