The album will be reissued in Blue Note’s Tone Poet Audiophile Vinyl Series on November 14th to mark the 70th anniversary. The album is often considered as Sinatra's "melancholy masterpiece", with it also being inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1983.
'In The Wee Small Hours' was Sinatra's third studio album for Capitol Records. The album was produced by Voyle Gilmore and features arrangements from Nelson Riddle.
Sinatra created 'In The Wee Small Hours' as a full length album rather than a collection of singles. It was originally issued as two 10-inch LP discs but also as one 12-inch record LP. The success of the album popularised the 12 inch record LP.
According to Blue Note Records, the reissue is “mastered by Kevin Gray from the original analog master tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl at Record Technology Inc. (RTI), and comes packaged in a deluxe gatefold tip-on jacket featuring session photos by William Claxton and Ken Veeder, as well as an essay by Rita Kirwan.”
