Madonna is keen to collaborate with Britney Spears for her new album, according to reports.
The singer is keen to entice Spears to appear on her follow up to her 2019 album, Madame X, but has so far proved unsuccessful.
Madonna and Spears certainly have a history, having shared that infamous kiss during their performance at the MTV VMAs in 2003, a year which also saw the pair join forces on Britney's hit, Me Against the Music.
"Madonna believes Britney is not just a brilliant artist, but a lovely person", a source told The Sun's newspaper Bizarre column. “They had a great time in the past working together and had touched on working together again".
“Madonna felt that Britney could bring something to her new album or perhaps join for a writing idea".
“She feels a connection to Britney and has been a vocal supporter of her, despite all the concern about her welfare in the last couple of years", the source added. “Madonna is one of the few people on the planet to understand the stresses and troubles of being one of the most famous people in the world".
Britney Spears had previously praised Madonna in her memoir, The Woman In Me, hailing her as her "mentor" as she offered her advice following the break up of her relationship with Justin Timberlake, amid reports that she had cheated on him.
“Stunningly beautiful, she exuded power and confidence. She walked straight to the window, looked out, and said, ‘Nice view.' Madonna’s supreme confidence helped me see a lot about my situation with fresh eyes", Spears wrote. “I think she probably had some intuitive sense of what I was going through. I needed a little guidance at that time. I was confused about my life. She tried to mentor me".
Spears also claimed that Madonna tried to "initiate" her into Kabbalah, the mystical Jewish faith.
“At one point, she did a red-string ceremony with me to initiate me into Kabbalah, and she gave me a trunk full of Zohar books to pray with", she added. “She told me I should be sure to take time out for my soul, and I tried to do that. She modelled a type of strength that I needed to see".
Back in March, Madonna appeared to confirm her return to acting after being spotted filming the second season of hit comedy series, The Studio in Venice. More on this story here.
