Marcus Mumford has claimed that his wife, Carey Mulligan has banned him from playing music at their home.
In a recent interview with the SmartLess podcast, Mumford, who has been married to the actress for 14 years, sharing three children, has said that she suddenly noticed his habit of zoning out when music is played, so the happy couple have to keep the house quiet, even when they're hosting parties.
“We had this conversation the other day. We had a party at home. It was Carey’s birthday, and someone came, and they were like, ‘There’s no music.’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, we don’t really play music", Mumford said.
The Mumford & Sons singer continued: “I can’t do background music because if music’s on, I want to lean in and listen to it. And I can’t switch that part of my brain off. So then Carey doesn’t like having music in the house because I just stop having a conversation".
Mumford added that he listens to music when he is on his own, otherwise he becomes analytical in his thinking.
He said: “I listen to probably mostly new music. And if I’m on my own, that’s when I listen to music".
Elsewhere, Marcus Mumford told the podcast about how he was left stunned after he met Kendrick Lamar during a backstage meeting, which saw the rapper stripped to "his undies".
This happened after Mumford was summoned to Kendrick Lamar's dressing room for a chat, following a live performance at the Bonnaroo Music Festival in Tennessee, which left the singer in shock when Kendrick began to stripping off during this chat.
"When I was invited, very explicitly invited, backstage was after Kendrick Lamar played Bonnaroo", he recalled."There was a message that came down from on high that Kendrick would like to see you. When Kendrick calls, you come, right, because he’s the king".
"He took almost all of his clothes as I walked in. It was amazing. I thought, like, the gumption to be like: 'Yeah, come on back after the show and it will be the very moment I take all my clothes off and I’m just down to my undies and we’ll have a chat'".
Mumford added: "Real confidence. Swag".
