Sir Rod Stewart — one of British rock’s most enduring icons — has once again been forced to cancel a performance at his Las Vegas residency after succumbing to a lingering illness.

The 80-year-old artist was due to take the stage at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Thursday, June 5. However, the show will no longer proceed as planned, marking the second cancellation in under a week. Stewart addressed fans directly, delivering the unfortunate news in a characteristically heartfelt social media post: “I’m awfully sorry to have to cancel my show,” he wrote. “My doctor ordered a bit more rest while I recover from the flu. Thanks for your love and understanding,” he added, concluding with a broken heart emoji that punctuated the message with quiet poignancy.

While no rescheduled date has yet been confirmed for this particular performance, Stewart’s previous cancellation — a Sunday night show on June 1 — has already been rearranged for Tuesday, June 10. It’s a small gesture, but one that underscores his commitment to fulfilling obligations where possible, even in the face of mounting health concerns.

The hope now, for fans and performer alike, is that this temporary pause buys Stewart enough time to recuperate ahead of his next scheduled appearances on Saturday, June 7, and Sunday, June 8.

This brief interruption arrives amid what has been billed as Stewart’s One Last Time tour — a sprawling, globe-hopping farewell to large-scale touring. It’s worth noting, however, that despite the title, Stewart has made it clear he has no intention of retiring completely.

Later this month, the Sailing legend is set to take to the Pyramid Stage for the coveted Glastonbury Legends slot on June 29 — a landmark performance that will almost certainly attract a multi-generational crowd.

And from there, the schedule does not ease up: further North American dates, a South American leg, and a return to Europe before the year’s end.

At 80, Rod Stewart remains indefatigable — but even icons require rest. His apology was sincere. His fans? Largely forgiving. The story now is not one of cancellation, but of defiance tempered by humanity.
