The Script paid tribute to their late bandmember Mark Sheehan during their live set at Glastonbury over the weekend.
Sheehan, who co founded The Script alongside frontman Danny O'Donoghue and drummer Glen Power, passed away following a brief illness aged 46 in April 2023.
"Much loved husband, father, brother, bandmate and friend Mark Sheehan has passed away today in hospital after a brief illness. The family and group ask fans to respect their privacy at this tragic time", the band posted at the time.
While performing on the Pyramid Stage at the weekend, lead singer Danny O'Donoghue addressed the audience.
"There’s one person I really wish was here to see this. He was on this stage 17 years ago. We lost my best mate and the founding member of the script, Mark Sheehan", O'Donoghue said. "We lost him nearly a year and a half ago. I just wanted to thank every single person here for keeping us going, for all your thoughts and all your prayers. Thank you so much".
"I know he’s having a whisky right now looking down on us".
O'Donoghue went on to dedicate The Script's live performance of 'If You Could See Me Now' to Mark Sheehan.
The Script was formed by Danny O'Donoghue, and Glen Power alongside Mark Sheehan in Dublin in 2001.
The band will also perform in Limerick's Thomond Park next month. More on this here.
