Lily Allen returned to Saturday Night Live on Saturday to perform songs from her new album, West End Girl. BUT, the night came with a surprise. Actress Dakota Johnson delighted fans by joining Allen onstage as a character in the album, named “Madeline”. It marked Allen’s first appearance on the iconic show in 18 years.
Allen performed songs from her new album West End Girl, which is inspired by the alleged infidelity of her ex-husband, Stranger Things actor David Harbour. During her second song, Madeline, Johnson appeared as the mysterious mistress, hidden behind a curtain for most of the performance. Johnson also delivered the song’s spoken word ending, reading text messages to Allen, such as "I hate that you're in so much pain right now. He told me that you were aware this was going on and that he had your full consent". She then revealed herself to the audience and pecked Allen on the cheek.
The performance follows a successful year for the singer, who recently announced new dates for her sold out tour, including two nights in Dublin next June!
