Aer Lingus has officially launched a new direct service between Dublin and Montpellier, with the inaugural flight EI540 taking off today from Dublin Airport. The new route will operate twice weekly throughout the summer season, offering Irish travellers another appealing option for city breaks and Mediterranean holidays.

Situated in the south of France, Montpellier is renowned for its mix of historic architecture, vibrant culture, and sunny climate. Highlights include the city’s Arc de Triomphe-inspired Porte du Peyrou, the lively Place de la Comédie, and the iconic Three Graces Fountain. With approximately 300 days of sunshine annually and easy access to picturesque coastal destinations such as Sète and Mèze, Montpellier is expected to prove popular with Irish holidaymakers.

The route is the latest addition to the airline’s expanding summer network, following recently launched services from Dublin to Oslo and Asturias, alongside new Cork services to Nice and Santiago de Compostela.

On the long-haul side, Aer Lingus plans to operate 24 routes between Ireland and North America in 2026, including popular destinations such as Nashville, Orlando and New York City. New services to Raleigh–Durham and Pittsburgh are also being added as part of the airline’s continued Dublin Hub expansion strategy.

Reid Moody, Chief Strategy & Planning Officer at Aer Lingus, said the airline is delighted to add Montpellier to its growing European network, describing the city as “a destination rich in culture and history, while also serving as a gateway to the beautiful south of France.”
