RNLI volunteers have recovered a body from the water following a multi-agency response off the coast of Wexford today, Saturday, afternoon.

The lifeboat was visible heading into Wexford Harbour shortly after 2pm as many were enjoying the sunshine on Wexford quay.

They were joined by the Coast Guard Rescue 117 helicopter, which hovered off the coast, however, it is reported that the chopper was in the area on a training exercise and played no major role in the recovery effort.

The body is believed to be that of a male and it’s been suggested that it may have been in the water for some time.

Gardai released a statement to Ireland's Classic Hits Radio News today:

"Gardaí were alerted to the discovery of a body at sea off the coast of Wexford shortly before 2:00pm this afternoon, Saturday 10th May 2025.

The deceased male was recovered by the Coast Guard and RNLI in the Irish Sea, east of Raven Point and brought to shore.

His body has been transferred to the morgue at University Hospital Waterford, where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course. The results of the examination will determine the course of the Garda investigation.

Enquiries are ongoing."
