Centra has unveiled Monop-Deli, a limited-edition festive board game inspired by its iconic deli favourites! Research has revealed that "snacks and craic power the perfect festive games night". Your Deli order is something Irish people take great pride in. Whether its wedges with Taco sauce, a spicy chicken fillet roll, jambons, a breakfast roll, you name it! The game is designed just in time for Christmas fun around the kitchen table, in the sitting room, or beside the tree. However you like to celebrate.
I assume you are familiar with the concept of Monopoly, the board game where you buy and build on properties, try to stay financially stable, while making your opponents go bankrupt. Well welcome to Monop-Deli. Instead of properties like 'North Carolina Avenue', it features properties like Superquinn Sausage Street, Jambon Junction, and Chicken Fillet Roll Row. The board game adds a fun, relatable twist to festive family game nights.
Centra has launched this cool idea to celebrate the deli heritage in Ireland, but also to recognise how much joy snacks really bring to us, especially during festive get-togethers! To coincide with the lunch of this food themed board, the launch is paired with a delicious range of festive foods. Healthy treats by The Happy Pear, to "tasty tipples and seasonal favourites" are some of the treats to help make game night even easier to prepare for, and enjoy.
The campaign also explores what makes a truly Irish games night, from player personalities to must have food and drinks that keep the craic going. This research was commissioned by Centra and conducted by iReach in November 2025, "surveying 1,000 nationally representative Irish adults nationwide". It found that.... 66% of adults rate the presence of the “right crew” as their foremost priority. An equally significant factor for 53% is an impressive snack selection, ranging from crisps and dips to festive pizzas and convenient party trays. Game choices match this level of importance at 53%. Notably, music ranks at just 26%, indicating that engaging company and conversation are considered sufficient entertainment.
The most humorous finding of this research, "the most Irish move? Forgetting the game entirely". I think we can all admit we are culprits to this. The research found that 33% of adults get too caught up in the craic to even remember their go!
Although, the game is not available for purchase; it will be given away exclusively through Centra’s social media channels. May the best man win.
P.S, my go-to Deli order is a spicy chicken fillet roll with sweet chilli sauce and lettuce, NO MAYO OR BUTTER. What's yours?
