If you’re heading to Electric Picnic this weekend, the forecast is classic Irish: a bit of sunshine, plenty of showers, and Saturday shaping up as the messy one with heavy downpours and strong winds. In other words, pack for everything—and expect mud.

Electric Picnic is Ireland’s biggest music and arts festival, taking over Stradbally, Co. Laois every year with a mix of massive headliners, hidden stages, comedy, food, and late-night madness. And it's happening this weekend!

The mud is almost a rite of passage at Stradbally. Anyone who’s been before will tell you that trudging through puddles, rescuing collapsing tents, and watching strangers glide past in slow-motion is half the fun. It’s the price of admission to the full festival experience—and honestly, it makes the sunny spells feel like a blessing.

If you're one of the brave ones - a.k.a. you're camping - here’s your survival kit for a muddy weekend:

  • Wellington boots or waterproof kicks: absolutely non-negotiable.

  • Ponchos and rain jackets: compact, lightweight—and possibly lifesavers amidst shower duels.

  • Layers and zip-lock outfit bags: pack outfits individually.

  • Groundsheet/footprint for your tent: protect your setup from soaking through.

At the end of the day, Electric Picnic is about music, mates, and memories. The mud just adds character. So laugh at the puddles, embrace the chaos, and enjoy the craic!
