The Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland has added 22 restaurants to its online selection in August, including six new additions from the Republic of Ireland.

Michelin regularly updates its online restaurant selection throughout the year, while Michelin Stars, Bib Gourmands and other distinctions are announced separately.

The six Irish restaurants recognised in the latest update are spread across Dublin, Wicklow, Wexford and Galway.

China Hunan, Dublin

Located on Ranelagh’s main street, China Hunan has been recognised for its authentic Chinese cuisine, with a particular focus on Hunan and other regional styles.

The restaurant serves a wide selection of dishes, including handmade dim sum, roast meats, Hunan specialities and Peking duck. Its kitchen team is made up of chefs from different parts of China.

Bearú, New Ross, Co Wexford

Michelin has listed Bearú under Traditional Cuisine, highlighting the small café and bistro run by chef-owner Dave Rowley.

The restaurant operates as a café during the day, serving breakfast and lunch, before moving towards a more restaurant-focused offering on Friday and Saturday evenings. Michelin praised its high-quality ingredients and classically influenced cooking, including a pan-roasted monkfish dish with shrimp and caper beurre noisette.

Grain Store at Killruddery, Bray

Set within Killruddery House and Gardens estate, Grain Store is housed in a restored 19th-century barn and has also been recognised under Traditional Cuisine.

Michelin highlighted the use of high-quality produce, including ingredients grown and reared on the estate, with head chef Niall O’Sullivan creating seasonal dishes inspired by the surrounding farm and gardens.

Mongoose, Dublin

Mongoose on Thomas Street has been included under Modern Cuisine. It comes from the team behind neighbouring Variety Jones and focuses on straightforward, ingredient-led cooking.

Michelin highlighted its use of fire, homemade pasta and seasonal produce, including its whole wood-roasted chicken with Caesar salad.

DÍON, Dublin

Located on the upper floors of Central Plaza on Dame Street, DÍON offers panoramic 360-degree views across Dublin.

Michelin praised its retro-futurist dining room and polished brasserie-style cooking, with grilled steaks among the highlights. The restaurant also places a strong emphasis on Irish hospitality and Dublin-inspired cocktails.

The Universal, Galway

The Universal on William Street West is described as a neighbourhood bar and kitchen serving seasonal food alongside craft beer, organic wine and cocktails.

Its menu showcases local produce, with recent dishes featuring ingredients including Iona Farm beetroot, Doonbeg crab, Kinvara lamb and Gilligan Farm beef.

The six restaurants join Michelin’s growing online selection of Irish dining destinations, with their inclusion offering further recognition for restaurants across the country.
