Attending Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival has long been seen as a bucket-list experience for music fans — but a new cost breakdown shows just how expensive a weekend in the desert can really be.
The iconic festival, held annually in Indio, California, returned this year with a star-studded lineup featuring Justin Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, and Karol G, drawing tens of thousands of fans across two weekends in April.
But while social media offers a glamorous glimpse into the event, one attendee has revealed the true cost behind the scenes — and it’s not cheap.
A festivalgoer named Julia Handra, who has attended Coachella for the past two years, shared a detailed breakdown of her spending, showing how quickly costs can add up even when trying to keep things budget-friendly.

Starting with the essentials, she explained that tickets for two people came to around €1,010 (converted from $1,100), while opting for the cheapest accommodation — car camping — cost just €165 in total for four nights. Transport, in her case driving from Los Angeles, added a further €26 in fuel.
That brought the initial cost for tickets, travel and accommodation to roughly €1,200 for two people.
However, the real spending begins once the basics are covered. Because they chose to camp, the pair had to invest in equipment such as a tent, chairs, a cooler, as well as food and toiletries — costing an additional €775.
Inside the festival itself, expenses continued to rise. Food, drinks, groceries and merchandise added another €500 to the total, a category where Julia noted costs can vary significantly depending on personal choices.
Optional spending pushed the figure even higher. Festival outfits alone came to €550, while extras such as getting nails done added around €92.
Altogether, the final cost reached approximately €3,075 for two people, or about €1,540 each for a single weekend.

While that figure is already substantial, it represents a relatively budget-conscious approach.
Ticket resale prices for Weekend 2 of Coachella 2026 have surged far beyond face value, with full weekend passes reportedly exceeding €2,750, and some listings climbing as high as €3,850. Even single-day tickets have been seen approaching €900 depending on demand.
For international attendees, the cost can climb even further. Travel, flights and extended stays mean some fans are reportedly spending upwards of €13,800 to attend the festival — highlighting just how exclusive the experience can become.
Despite the eye-watering price tag, demand for Coachella shows no signs of slowing down.
With its mix of major headline acts, fashion moments and social media buzz, it remains one of the most sought-after events in the global music calendar.
