Netflix has confirmed that filming has begun on Grown Ups, an eight-part drama based on the best-selling novel by Marian Keyes — and the series is packed with Irish stars leading the cast, most of whom starred together in hit series Normal People, and Irish crime drama Love/Hate.
At the centre of the story is the Casey family, a tightly bound Dublin clan whose loyalties, resentments, and love are tested after the death of the family’s so-called “good son.” From there, Grown Ups dives into themes of grief, memory, and the messiness of modern Irish family life.
The cast is a who’s who of familiar Irish talent: Sarah Greene (Bad Sisters, Normal People) takes on the role of Jessie, while Barry Ward (Bad Sisters) plays Johnny. Aisling Bea joins as Cara, and Robert Sheehan — widely recognised from Love/Hate and Misfits — appears as Liam.

They’ll be joined by Amy-Leigh Hickman (YOU, Our Girl), Adrian Dunbar (Line of Duty, Ridley), Sinéad Cusack, and Karin Hanczewski, rounding out a cast that blends Irish and international names.
Though the series is filming in South Dublin, the real draw is seeing such a strong Irish ensemble bringing Keyes’ story to life. The mix of Dublin locations with performances from Greene, Bea, Sheehan, and Ward ensures a production that feels both rooted in Irish culture and primed for a global audience.
For fans of Normal People or Love/Hate, Grown Ups promises another showcase of homegrown acting talent on an international stage. Filming continues over the coming months, with viewers already eager to see how Keyes’ signature blend of humour, drama, and Irish warmth translates to the screen.
