Katy Perry is under investigation in Australia following sexual assault allegations made by actor Ruby Rose, which surfaced in a series of now-deleted posts on Threads.

Rose’s initial claims, shared via Threads on Sunday night, described an alleged incident from her early 20s at a nightclub in Melbourne.

She said it had taken “almost two decades” to speak publicly about the experience.

“Katy Perry sexual[ly] assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a shit what she thinks,” she wrote, responding to a post about Perry poking fun at Justin Bieber’s headline set at Coachella.

She shared further details in subsequent posts. “[Perry] didn’t kiss me,” Rose claimed. “She saw me ‘resting’ on my best friend’s lap to avoid her and bent down, pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face until my eyes snapped open and I projectile vomited on her.”

Rose also claimed she has corroborative photos and that multiple people witnessed the alleged encounter.

Shortly after posting, screenshots of the claims circulated widely online before the posts were deleted. She later confirmed she had formally reported the matter to police and would no longer comment publicly, stating: “I’ve finalised reports to police and won’t be speaking further at this.” She added in a separate message: “I love you all so much.”

In a statement, Victoria Police confirmed an investigation is underway into a historical sexual assault.

A spokesperson said officers are “investigating a historical sexual assault that occurred in Melbourne in 2010”, adding it would be inappropriate to comment further while inquiries remain ongoing.

A representative for Perry strongly denied the allegations, saying: “The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous, reckless lies.”

The statement added: “Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named.”

The claims emerged rapidly, with multiple posts published within a short timeframe before being deleted, intensifying attention around the case.

The alleged incident dates back to a period when Perry was rising to global fame and Rose was active in Australia’s entertainment and nightlife scene, prior to her later international recognition in shows including Orange Is the New Black.

The situation remains ongoing, with no further details released by police at this stage.
