Major drug seizure in Rosslare

Cannabis worth over 16 million euro and cocaine with an estimated value of 7.2 million euro has been discovered in separate searches in Co. Wexford.

The discoveries were made as part of a joint effort between Revenue's Custom Service and The Garda National Crime and Drugs Bureau.

783 kilograms of herbal cannabis and 70 Kilograms of cannabis resin were discovered in an unaccompanied freight unit in Rosslare Europort yesterday.

The drugs are believed to have an estimated value of over 16 million euro. 

Investigations into the discovery are ongoing but no arrests have yet been made.

Meanwhile, two men in their 40's and 50's were arrested in connection with the discovery of 7.2 million euro worth of cocaine at the port on Thursday. 

The seizure was part of Revenue’s ongoing joint investigations involving organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs.
