Gardaí are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the death of a man following an assault in Dublin 22 this morning.
The alarm was raised at around 5:50am in the Shancastle area of Clondalkin, with Gardaí and emergency services responding.
A man in his 30s was found unresponsive and later died at Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown.
The scene is currently preserved for forensic examination by the Garda Technical Bureau, while the Coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist have been notified.
A post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course, with a Senior Investigating Officer appointed to lead the investigation, and a Family Liaison Officer will be assigned to support the family of the deceased.
A man in his 30s has been arrested in connection with the investigation, and he's currently detained at a Garda Station in the Dublin area.
Investigating Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward, and are also asking those with camera footage to contact them.
