A man who was found dead beneath a tractor on a farm in Kerry may have lain undiscovered overnight, investigators believe.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Tahilla, near Sneem, shortly after 8am this morning. The man, aged in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is understood the fatal incident may have occurred the previous day, with the body only discovered early this morning.

In a statement released to Ireland's Classic Hits Radio, a Garda spokesperson confirmed:

"Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a work-related incident that occurred between Monday 12th May and Tuesday 13th May 2025 in the Tahilla area, Sneem, Co. Kerry.

A man, aged in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has since been removed to hospital for a post-mortem examination. The Coroner for Kerry has been notified and a file will be prepared for the Coroner’s Court."

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) was notified and are investigating the matter.

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has launched an investigation into the incident. A spokesperson confirmed their involvement but declined to comment further at this stage.

Farming remains one of the most dangerous industries in Ireland. According to HSA data released earlier this year, farmers represent just 4% of the working population but account for the highest share of workplace fatalities. Over the past five years, 28 people have died in vehicle-related incidents on farms.
