Irish TV personality Maura Higgins is set to join the cast of the American edition of The Traitors, teasing her ambitions in a dramatic trailer for the fourth season of the reality game show. The former Love Island star, 35, will compete against a lineup of celebrities in the Scottish castle setting, aiming to outwit her fellow contestants.
In a 30-second clip released ahead of the series premiere on Peacock, Higgins made her intentions clear, joking about wanting to be selected as a traitor. Wearing a striking green leather bodysuit paired with a cape-style jacket, she said: “Well, I’m starting off wearing a cape, so I hope that I’m a traitor, and I hope to kill everyone one by one. Someone comes for me at the roundtable. God love them.”
She added with a laugh that her approach to the game would be bold rather than secretive: “I speak my mind, not really a shadow kind of girl. That sounded really devious, didn’t it?” Her playful comments highlight the strategic and often deceptive nature of the show, which challenges contestants to uncover the “traitors” among them while navigating alliances, betrayals, and high-stakes decisions.
Hosted by Scottish actor Alan Cumming, the American version of The Traitors mirrors the structure of its UK counterpart but features celebrity participants competing for a top prize of $250,000 (£186,000). Contestants must balance social gameplay with careful deduction as they attempt to identify which players are secretly working against them.
Higgins joins an eclectic roster of personalities this season, including Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Rinna, drag performer and RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant Monet X Change, and acclaimed chef and TV host Kristen Kish. Together, they will face the suspenseful challenges and psychological gameplay that have made the show a hit internationally.
Higgins first gained fame as a finalist on ITV’s Love Island in 2019 and has since appeared on several other reality projects. She competed on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2024 and also hosted Love Island USA Aftersun, cementing her status as a recognizable media figure on both sides of the Atlantic.
With her mix of charm, wit, and boldness, Higgins appears ready to embrace the treacherous role and make a memorable mark on the celebrity edition of the series, promising plenty of drama and strategic gameplay for viewers when the show premieres.
