Heather Humphreys is an Irish politician from County Monaghan with the Fine Gael party. She has been a TD for Cavan–Monaghan since 2011 and has held roles including Minister for Rural and Community Development and Minister for Social Protection. In August 2025, she announced she would run for President of Ireland, focusing her campaign on community, unity, and opportunity.
The Red C survey for the Business Post puts her on 22%, with Fianna Fáil candidate Jim Gavin in second on 18%. The left-backed Independent Catherine Connolly is third on 17%.
36% of people asked did not say who they would vote for.
The poll also found that 29% of Fianna Fáil voters would give Heather Humphreys their first choice, while only 12% of Fine Gael voters said they would give Jim Gavin their first choice.
Some of the poll was done before Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald said she would not run, and before Fianna Fáil MEP Billy Kelleher lost the nomination to Jim Gavin. Ms McDonald was previously on 21%, just behind Heather Humphreys.
