Police in the UK this afternoon announced that a criminal investigation has been launched into the Glastonbury performances of Kneecap and Bob Vylan.
Avon and Somerset Police said that after reviewing footage, further enquiries are required and a criminal investigation is now being undertaken.
A spokesperson said, "a senior detective has been appointed to lead this investigation. This has been recorded as a public order incident at this time while our enquiries are at an early stage."
It also said the investigation will be "evidence-led and will closely consider all appropriate legislation, including relating to hate crimes."
The force added it has received a large amount of contact "from people across the world" in relation to the performances, and "there is absolutely no place in society for hate."
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has said there's "no excuse" for the "appalling hate speech" seen onstage at Glastonbury, while others argue musicians have always and will always voice their opinions.
The BBC says it "regrets" not pulling the livestream of Bob Vylan after the duo chanted "death" to the Israeli military on stage.
Kneecap's performance at Worthy Farm wasn't broadcast live on the BBC, instead it was made available on the BBC iPlayer.
Separately, Electric Picnic today announced Kneecap will be performing in Stradbally this August.
