A bride who never forgot her husband watching football during their wedding reception has finally exacted revenge — five years later. But while she may see it as playful payback, plenty of people online think she crossed a line.
When influencers Blake and Dani Russell tied the knot in 2020, what should have been a romantic celebration came with an unexpected twist. During the reception, Blake reportedly set up his mobile phone in view of the top table so he could keep an eye on a football match — while sitting beside his new wife.

It’s the kind of moment that might be laughed off by some couples. But for Dani, it clearly lingered.
Fast forward five years, and she decided the time had come to settle the score.
Blake is an avid player of RuneScape, the long-running fantasy MMORPG that has attracted millions of players since its launch in 2001. The game allows users to train more than 25 different skills, complete quests and battle monsters in an open-world format with no fixed storyline. Even today, around 1.6 million people log in daily, and for committed players, reaching level 99 in every skill — known as “maxing” — is a major milestone.
Blake had been building his account since before he met Dani and was reportedly close to hitting that long-awaited achievement. He had even planned a “maxing party” with his online friends to celebrate the occasion.
That’s when Dani made her move.
“Apparently, it's a really big deal and he's waiting to do a 'maxing party' with all of his friends online. Well, I'm about to crash that party and I'm going to max his account before he can,” she explained.
Determined to follow through, Dani enlisted her brother-in-law to help her navigate the technical side of the game and push the account over the finish line while Blake was away.
His response? A warning shot: “I hope you have the divorce papers ready for when he gets home.”
In a follow-up video, Dani captured the aftermath. As Blake walked into his office, she greeted him with a party popper and a kazoo.
“99! Congratulations,” she said brightly.
“Babe, I haven't got it yet,” Blake replied.
“Haven't you? Have you checked it?” she teased.
When he looked at the screen and realised what had happened, he appeared stunned. “How did you know what to do? I was going to have a party with my mates,” he said.

What Dani saw as long-delayed revenge quickly divided viewers online.
Dozens of commenters accused her of going too far. One wrote: “He was building that account before he even started anything with you. It was 100% too far. Poor guy.”
Another was even more blunt: “The marriage would be over instantly.”
