Two Gardaí were hospitalised after an incident involving seized vapes at Edenderry Garda Station in Co Offaly.
Gardaí have stated that the two male members were processing vape products seized during a recent investigation when they became unwell.
They were taken to the hospital and remain under medical assessment.
The station is to remain closed to allow for further examination, as gardaí determine the reasons that led to the offices becoming ill. Policing services in the area are currently provided by Tullamore Garda Station.
In a statement issued by An Garda Síochána last night, they said: “The members were involved in processing vape products seized from a commercial premises during an ongoing investigation. Both male members are currently in hospital under medical assessment. An Garda Síochána is providing welfare support to the hospitalised members and their families at this time.”
“Edenderry Garda Station will remain closed pending further examination and specialist deep cleaning tomorrow, Thursday 23rd July 2026. Policing services in the area are being provided from Tullamore Garda Station," they added.
