Netflix has confirmed that Emily in Paris will return for a sixth series, continuing the popular romance comedy-drama just weeks after the release of its fifth season.
The announcement came shortly after series five debuted on the streaming platform in December, signalling Netflix’s confidence in the show’s ongoing appeal. Since its launch, Emily in Paris has remained one of Netflix’s most talked-about titles, known for its glossy visuals, fashion-forward styling and light-hearted take on life abroad.
The series stars Lily Collins as Emily Cooper, a marketing executive from Chicago who unexpectedly lands her dream job in Paris. Over the course of the show, Emily navigates cultural clashes, demanding work projects and complicated romantic entanglements, all while attempting to build a new life in France.
To mark the renewal, Netflix shared a playful teaser video on social media. In the clip, Collins appears on a phone screen and pretends to blow out a candle shaped like the number six, perched on top of a croissant — a nod to both the new season and the show’s Parisian roots.
Series five expanded the show’s scope beyond France. In the latest episodes, Emily travels to Rome, where she works to launch a new office for her company. While there, she also embarks on a new romantic storyline with Marcello Muratori, a luxury fashion heir portrayed by Italian actor Eugenio Franceschini. The move introduced fresh characters and settings, hinting that the series may continue to explore locations beyond Paris while maintaining its central identity.
Speaking at a press conference in December, series creator Darren Star suggested that travel will remain an organic part of the storytelling. “There’s a lot of places I’d love to visit,” he said. “But I think the show organically follows the storyline. The show is Emily in Paris. It’s never going to permanently leave its home base. But if I can take the audience on a journey somewhere else, I would love that. It’s fun to think about.”
Despite the renewal, Netflix has not yet announced transmission details for series six, including a release date or episode count. However, with production momentum already in place following series five, fans are hopeful the wait will not be too long.
As Emily’s professional ambitions and personal life continue to evolve, the sixth series is expected to deliver more romance, fashion and cross-cultural chaos, all set against the backdrop of Europe’s most stylish cities.
