Boris Johnson and his wife Carrie have welcomed their fourth child together.
The former UK Prime Minister and his wife announced the arrival of their baby daughter, naming her Poppy Eliza Josephine Johnson, who was born last Wednesday (21 May). The couple also added that they came up with a cute nickname for the baby, with Carrie calling her 'Pops', and 'Pop Tart'.
Carrie also revealed that the couple's children are "utterly delighted" about the new arrival, saying that Romy is "particularly" thrilled as she was "desperate for a little sister. Bring on the matching dresses".
Alongside a series of photos of the family meeting the new arrival, Carrie Johnson shared the following message.
"I can’t believe how pretty and tiny you are. Feel so incredibly lucky. We are all totally smitten", she said. "Not sure I’ve slept a minute since you were born, as I can’t stop looking at how completely lovely you are".
Carrie continued: "Thank you so much to the amazing maternity team at UCLH and particularly to Asma and Patrick who have looked after me so well through all my pregnancies. I really cannot thank you guys enough".
Calling Poppy their "final gang member", she added: "Back from hospital now and time for cocktails and pizza with my tiny baby snoozing on my lap. Life doesn’t get any better".
The latest arrival of their daughter, means that Boris Johnson has become a father for the ninth time, having shared four children with ex wife Marina Wheeler, and another which resulted from an affair between the politician and art consultant Helen MacIntyre in 2009.
Boris and Carrie's first child Wilfried was born in April 2020, during the early months of the Covid-19 pandemic.
