Cause Of Death For Fleetwood Mac's Christine McVie Confirmed

The primary cause of death for Fleetwood Mac keyboardist Christine McVie has been confirmed.

McVie passed away aged 79 last November, with her family stating that she "passed away peacefully" following a "short illness".

According to her death certificate, Christine McVie died from a ischemic stroke, which “occurs when the blood supply to part of the brain is interrupted or reduced, preventing brain tissue from getting oxygen and nutrients”, according to the Mayo Clinic.

The certificate also stated that McVie was also diagnosed with “metastatic malignancy of unknown primary origin”, which meant cancer cells were found in her body.

Following her death in November, McVie's ex bandmate and friend Stevie Nicks paid an emotional tribute to her.

“A few hours ago I was told that my best friend in the whole world since the first day of 1975, had passed away. I didn’t even know she was ill…until late Saturday night. I wanted to be in London; I wanted to get to London – but we were told to wait”, Nicks wrote.

“So, since Saturday, one song has been swirling around in my head, over and over and over. I thought I might possibly get to sing it to her, and so, I’m singing it to her now. I always knew I would need these words one day. (Written by the Ladies Haim). It’s all I can do now…”.
