Irish singer CMAT has been forced to cancel her scheduled performance at Paris’ Rock en Seine festival tonight after falling ill, just one day before she is due to perform at Electric Picnic.

The Meath-born star announced the cancellation on Instagram on Friday morning, revealing that she is suffering from gastroenteritis and has been unable to travel.

“I am very sorry to say we are no longer able to play our show at Rock en Seine today,” she wrote.

“I have gastroenteritis and was due to travel yesterday, but was not able, and I have not fully recovered to travel today.”

CMAT also explained that a cancelled flight added to the difficulties, with most of her band, crew and equipment unable to reach Paris after their flight was cancelled due to a thunderstorm.

“Alongside this, last night's flight into Paris carrying most of our band, crew and gear was cancelled due to a thunderstorm so unfortunately due to this double dose it’s not possible to play today,” she said.

Apologising to fans who had planned to attend the show, she added: “I am really sorry for anyone who was coming to see us. Xx.”

The cancellation comes as CMAT prepares for a major homecoming performance at Electric Picnic on Saturday night. She is scheduled to take to the stage ahead of headliners Gorillaz, marking her first Irish show since she headlined Dublin’s St Anne’s Park last May.

Earlier this week, CMAT also announced the release of EURO-COUNTRY (Live at St Anne’s), a four-track EP recorded during that Dublin headline show. The release is available on streaming services and vinyl, including a limited edition run of 500 green copies through her official store. A full two-hour recording of the concert has also been made available on CMAT’s YouTube channel.

Despite less-than-ideal weather conditions, almost 80,000 people are expected to attend Electric Picnic this weekend.

Other acts appearing at the festival include Sombr, Gorillaz, Van Morrison and Fontaines D.C.
