Daniel Day-Lewis has returned to acting following an eight year hiatus, starring in a movie directed by his son.
The triple Oscar winner has returned to star in the new family drama, Anemone, directed and co written by his son, Ronan Day-Lewis. The film is to be premiered at next month's New York Film Festival. The film will look at the "fraught" relationships between fathers and sons and brothers with a "mysterious, complicated past".
Daniel Day-Lewis takes centre stage in a new image, which shows him looking up into the sky with co star Sean Bean, which was released by Focus Features, with the film being described as “an absorbing family drama about lives undone by seemingly irreconcilable legacies of political and personal violence”.
Bean himself stars a middle aged man who “sets out from his suburban home on a journey into the woods, where he reconnects with his estranged hermit brother (Day-Lewis)".
Anemone will also see How To Have Sex star Samuel Bottomley, Samantha Morton, and Safia Okley-Green star in supporting roles.
Daniel Day Lewis had previously announced that he would be no longer working in Hollywood, after last starring in Paul Thomas Anderson's 2017 film, Phantom Thread.
However, Day-Lewis had announced last September that he be returning to the screens to star in his son's film.
