Downton Abbey Sequel Release Date Delayed Until Spring

The drama Downton Abbey: A New Era, has been pushed back until April 29. It was initially due to arrive in cinemas on March 18. 

This sequel will see characters embark on a grand journey to the South of France, solving the mystery of the Dowager Countess' newly inherited villa. The film will star Huge Bonneville, Dame Maggie Smith, Jim Carter, Elizabeth McGovern, Laura Carmichael and Michelle Dockery. 

Huge Dancy, Nathaniel Baye, Dominic West and Laura Haddock will also join the cast.

Having started as a TV series, Downton Abbey aired on ITV between 2010 to 2015. It followed the fortunes of the upper class Crawley family and their downstairs servants at a Yorkshire County estate. 

The first film was released in 2019, which was followed by a royal visit to the Crawley family and Downton estate.
