James Van Der Beek's nine-year-old daughter, Emilia, has reduced fans to tears with her 'wise words' in the wake of her famous father's passing.
The Dawson's Creek actor, who was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2023, passed away 'peacefully' on February 11. He leaves behind his wife, Kimberly Brook, and their six children: Annabel, Gwendolyn, Joshua, Emilia, Jeremiah, and Olivia.
On Monday, Kimberly shared a beautiful video that her daughter, Emilia, asked if she could make about navigating grief.
''You have to feel them because they’re in your heart. They’re watching over you. They’re a part of your body and in a good place. I know that my dad’s in a good place. He’s not in pain anymore. He’s in heaven, above the clouds with God and the Lord, and you just cry.'
'Be happy they’re in a good place. Be sad because you miss them. You can be angry, but don’t blame yourself. Blaming yourself is not the strategy for someone’s passing,' Emilia said.
'Something my dad told me is if this didn’t work out the way he wanted it to and the way we wanted it to, for him living, I still have to believe in miracles.
'Miracles can still happen. Just later on in life, and they’ll keep coming. But maybe when you want them to come, they might not, but if they do pass, if they do go, just remember, they have some work to do on the other side.'
James' fans are in awe of nine-year-old Emilia's 'wise' words and strong grip on reality at such a young age.
'Oh my gosh, she's so beautiful. Poor sweet girl,' one Instagram user commented, as another wrote: 'She's beautiful inside and out.'
'Such wise words from such a small human,' another penned, as stylist Ilaria Urbinati commented: 'I remember her when she was just born, and she was full of light then and is even more incredible now.
'She is very much [her] own person while also such a beautiful result of the way you guys have brought her up. An entire family of unique, gorgeous souls. Missing you guys and James today and every day.'
