Filming of season two of Rivals is to begin next month, it has been confirmed.
The Disney+ comedy drama will see an extended run of 12 episodes, with Aidan Turner and Victoria Smurfitt reprising their roles, along with David Tennant, Danny Dyer, Emily Attack and Annabel Scholey.
Based on the best selling novel by Jilly Cooper, who also serves as executive producer, the drama is set in the fictional county Rutshire, against the backdrop of Cotswolds in England, and the high octane world of British television in the 1980s.
"I'm utterly sex-static filming for the second season is upon us. It was magical working with Happy Prince and Disney+ on the first season and seeing everyone fall head over heels for my beloved characters", Jilly Cooper said ahead of the new season. "I’m delighted to be able to work with them again and for everyone to see what further mischief they all get up to!".
Season one of Rivals became the most successful general entertainment premiere on Disney+ in Ireland so far.
It also won awards including the Royal Television accolade for writing, as well as an RTS award for Danny Dyer for best supporting actor, for his role as Freddie Jones in the drama.
Speaking last month, Aidan Turner said that filming for Rivals, was "so much craic". More on this from Ireland's Classic Hits Radio here.
