Roz Purcell has shared a fresh update on the latest news in her alopecia journey, revealing it is becoming ‘more common’ of late.

The broadcaster and influencer has been open and honest about her journey with the autoimmune disease, which attacks the body’s hair follicles.

The condition can be hereditary, but it can also be worsened due to high levels of stress.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday evening, Roz shared a picture of the back of her head, where a bald patch was visible in the lower part of her hair.

‘First time having two bad patches pop up in the same month,’ she shared, ‘It’s just getting more common.’

Earlier this year, Roz took to social media to share her best advice for fellow alopecia areata sufferers, advising ‘Go to an expert.’

Roz brought followers along as she attended the Institute of Dermatologists, where she met with Dr Catriona Ryan, who administered injections for the disease.

The specialist doctor explained that alopecia areata is not linked to nutrition; however, shedding could be a result of a lack of B12 or low iron levels.

Following up, Roz revealed her best advice was to go to an ‘expert.’

She explained: ‘Sometimes I feel like people online — like influencers — when something happens to them, people think they are an expert in that area, but like my advice to anyone who is suffering hair loss, whether it’s alopecia areata [or] severe shedding — they tend to come together.

‘Go to an expert. There are numerous treatments available. Not every treatment will work for you; I have found one that works for me.’
