Girls Aloud To Release 20th Anniversary Reissue Of 'Sound Of The Underground'

Girls Aloud have announced a special reissue of their album 'Sound Of The Underground' to mark its 20th anniversary.

Along with the album's 20th anniversary, this release will also mark the first time that the record will be pressed on vinyl. It will be available on both limited edition picture disc, and green-coloured vinyl. The 3D tracklist will also be available on streaming platforms. 

Arriving on June 16, 'Sound Of The Underground' is to feature two bonus discs of B-sides, including remixes and rarities in a 3CD delux edition. This will also include a 24 page booklet, containing sleeve notes and unseen photos. The reissued album will be released via Polydor/Fascination.

A press release has also added that this album will be “the first in a series of exciting reissues of the band’s studio albums”.

Previewing this album, Girls Aloud have shared ‘Sound Of The Underground (Alternative Vocal Mix)’ online. While an new 4K version of the track was also shared.

The band who consisted of Cheryl, Kimberley Walsh, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts and the late Sarah Harding, won the reality TV series Popstars: The Rivals in 2003, before releasing their debut album, 'Sound Of The Underground' that same year.

The album reached number 2 in the UK Album Chart, and included their number one single of the same name.

In 2020, bandmember Sarah Harding passed away from cancer aged 39. Last December, Girls Aloud released a limited edition 7 inch vinyl of 'Sound Of The Underground', with proceeds going to the Sarah Harding Breast Cancer Appeal.
