Home and Away star Alea O'Shea said that she is "riding the wave" as she undergoes treatment for brain cancer.
The actress who played Darcy Callahan between 2011 and 2014, and returned to the show between 2016 and 2017, has been documenting her journey online, having been diagnosed with the illness aged 25.
O'Shea first confirmed her diagnosis back in November, having revealed that she underwent a biopsy on her birthday.
"This is a video I obviously thought I'd never have to make, but I've recently been diagnosed with brain cancer,' she began. Saying that like, a hook, is insane. It's been a crazy few weeks", she wrote on Instagram.
Alea O'Shea first noticed something was wrong when she started to suffer migraines, as well as noticing that her smile was a "little uneven", saying that it was "harder to talk". Then during a trip to LA, O'Shea also lost feeling in two fingers, then her wrist and toe.
It was after this that she explained that she went to see her physio, who she said she "could not be more grateful for" as he "immediately realised it was beyond his scope". It was the physio who sent O'Shea for a brain scan, and she then received her diagnosis.
O'Shea added in her video: "The good news is where it is on my brain isn’t going to affect my personality", before later explaining how she will require surgery and could have "left side paralysis".
The actress has also stared having radiation, while also sharing that her hair loss on social media, where many of her followers have praised her defiant attitude and positive mindset during a difficult time.
