Jamie Lee Curtis is to star in the upcoming movie adaption of classic TV series, Murder She Wrote.
The film which is expected to hit the screens in Christmas 2027, will see the actress play the famous Jessica Fletcher, an author of mystery novels who also solves crimes. The TV series saw Fletcher portrayed by the late Angela Landsbury, who starred in 12 seasons of the show from 1984 to 1996, and four TV films between 1997 and 2003.
During its heyday, 25 million Americans tuned in to watch Murder She Wrote, which also enjoyed success thanks to syndicated re-runs. It still has a cult following today.
This new movie version is to be directed Pitch Perfect's Jason Moore, which set for release on 22 December next year, around the same time as Avengers: Secret Wars, and The Lord Of The Rings: The Hunt For Gollum.
No other information regarding this project has been announced at the time of writing.
News of this comes after it was announced last month that Jamie Lee Curtis was to star alongside Nicole Kidman in a new crime thriller series, Scarpetta, which premiered earlier this month. It sees Kidman star as a medical examiner, Kay Scarpetta, with Curtis playing her sister, Dorothy Farinelli.
The series is based on the best Kay Scarpetta selling novels by American crime writer, Patricia Cornwell's, which has sold over 120 million copies worldwide since they arrived on the book shelves in 1990. More on this story here.
That same month, Jamie Lee Curtis also insisted that she has no signs of winding down despite turning 67.
When asked she felt any different after turning that age, Curtis said: "I have no time to waste. Tick tock, baby! I'm taking advantage of opportunities. I am 67 years old 3 days ago. I am more alive today. I’m prettier, I’m stronger, I’m smarter. I'm much more spiritually aware. I'm funnier. I'm softer. I'm tougher. I'm grayer. I'm wrinklyer. And I'm happier than I've ever been in my life. That's just the truth. There's not one second of that that's b*******, i'm not trying to sell something here. I'm just telling you the truth. You can be free. Freedom is the goal!”.
