Jamie Lynn Spears has revealed that she was told her "life was over" after getting pregnant when she was 16 years old.

The actress and sister of pop star, Britney Spears, thought her career was done after she discovered she was expecting a baby.

Speaking to People Magazine, Spears said: "I was called the biggest letdown in the world", before adding: "I was told my life was over. It was really, really tough not to believe those things".

The Zoey 101 star, later moved away from Hollywood to "the middle of nowhere" in Mississippi after she had her baby daughter, Maddie, who was born in 2007. She also revealed that she had split with her then boyfriend and her baby's father, Casey Aldridge shortly after Maddie was born.

"It really was just me and her", Jamie Lynn Spears said.  "I had to be like, 'Look, this little girl needs you. You better figure it out.' I wanted to create a good, stable life for my daughter".

She also recalled who determined she was to be a mother that Maddie "could be proud of".

"I wanted to make sure (she knew) that it wasn't her fault that she got a mom who was 16 and pregnant. So, I wanted to make sure I did everything right. I think I was a bit of a helicopter parent", she told People Magazine.

Jamie Lynn also revealed that Maddie will start college in August: "I'm so proud of her and everything she's done, but I also cry in the car because I'm not going to have my baby home every day. She's always going to be my baby".

Jamie Lynn Spears is currently married to businessman, Jamie Watson since 2014. The pair have one daughter together, eight year old, Ivey. She is also currently starring in season 5 of Netflix hit, Sweet Magnolias.

News of this just a week after Jamie Lynn Spears enjoyed a nice family getaway in Limerick with her two daughters. She was seen posing inside The Strand Hotel, as well as sharing images of Sarsfield Bridge, and the River Shannon, which were all visible behind her in posts on social media.
