Jennifer Lawrence has opened up about her sometimes unfiltered approach to interviews, admitting that she often rereads her own quotes and is shocked by how they come across — particularly after a headline-making remark about Kourtney Kardashian.

Appearing on Good Hang With Amy Poehler, the 35-year-old Oscar-winning actress reflected on the media reaction to comments she made during a Vanity Fair lie detector test in November 2025. The test, which she took alongside her Die My Love co-star Robert Pattinson, quickly went viral after Lawrence was asked whether she still watched Keeping Up With the Kardashians.

During the segment, Lawrence bluntly described Kardashian, 46, as “more annoying than ever” and added, “she drives me nuts.” While her criticism was aimed at the eldest Kardashian sister, Lawrence also noted that Khloé Kardashian was her favourite member of the famous family. The candid exchange soon dominated headlines, prompting widespread discussion online.

Reflecting on the aftermath, Lawrence told Poehler that moments like these make her reconsider how much press she should do. “I think that when I do press I should do half than what normal people do because I see my quotes and they’re insane,” she said. She went on to explain how quickly a casual remark can snowball into a lasting headline, adding, “Like, ‘Jennifer Lawrence calls Kourtney Kardashian annoying.’ It carries.”

Beyond discussing viral soundbites, Lawrence also used the podcast to share insights into her evolving career ambitions. The Hunger Games star revealed she has written a comedy film and plans to direct and star in the project herself, marking a significant step behind the camera.

She attributed her growing confidence as a filmmaker to early experiences in the industry, particularly working with women in leadership roles. “My first movie ever was a female director, and I ended up working with more female directors than male directors,” Lawrence explained. She added that this exposure had a profound impact on her as a young actor, saying, “As a teenager, it was formative that I realised that was even possible for me to do.”

Lawrence first gained critical acclaim with her breakout role in Winter’s Bone (2010), before becoming a global star through The Hunger Games trilogy and X-Men franchise. She won the Best Actress Academy Award for Silver Linings Playbook (2012) and later founded her own production company, Excellent Cadaver, in 2018.

Through the podcast, Lawrence offered a candid reminder of both the pitfalls of fame and her determination to continue shaping her career on her own terms.
