Kim Kardashian is to give evidence this afternoon at the trial of a gang accused of robbing her at gunpoint at her hotel room in Paris in 2016.
The gang, who are accused of stealing jewellery worth millions of dollars, allegedly tied the reality TV star with zip ties and duct tape, before making off with the jewellery. Such items included an engagement ring given to her by her then-husband Kanye West, worth a reported $4 million.
Earlier this morning, dozens of reports queued up to get into the tribunal, hours prior to Kardashian's testimony.
The gang itself, are dubbed "the grandpa gang", owing to the fact that the members are aged in their 60s and 70s. One such member is 71 year old Yunice Abbas, who is among 10 suspects standing trial for this robbery..
In a book written by him a few years ago, Mr Abbas said that he was sorry for his part in the robbery, and wanted to apologise to Kim Kardashian. In cases like this, there is no possibility of a guilty plea.
The alleged leader of this gang is 68 year old Aomar Ait Khedache, nicknamed 'Omar The Old'. Last month, his lawyer Frank Berton had said he hoped the fact that Kardashian was such a global celebrity, wouldn't affect the trial. Mr Khedache has always denied being the leader.
"This trial attracts international attention because of who the plaintiff, the victim, is," Berton said. "What we hope is that it won't change anything in the way the facts are judged".
