TV presenter Lorraine Kelly is aiming to return to work next week, after undergoing "preventative" surgery to remove her ovaries.

The Scottish star had undergone keyhole surgery earlier this month (3 May), in order to remove her ovaries and fallopian tubes following a number of tests and scans. She underwent this surgery at Ascot's Heatherwood Hospital in Berkshire, before later travelling back home to recover.

Last year, Kelly has said that she had not "been feeling all that well for a little while", prompting her to seek medical attention.

Previously, Lorraine Kelly has insisted that she was going to be "totally fine", and would see them "really soon".

Earlier this week, Kelly also shared a photo of her and her granddaughter Billie resting on a bed together.

"Thanks so much for all your well wishes", Kelly wrote. "Billie (is) providing the best medicine ever with lots of cuddles for her granny. Hopefully get back to work on Monday. I've missed you".

Lorraine Kelly has received messages of support from Scottish cycling champion Chris Hoy, as well as presenters Emma Willis and Katie Piper.

Having started her journalism career with the East Kilbride News, Lorraine Kelly later joined TV-am as a reporter covering Scottish news in 1984. She went on to present on Good Morning Britain in 1990, before getting the opportunity to host her own show, Lorraine.
