Traitors Ireland season two ended with a bang on Tuesday night, with Faithful Diego securing a dramatic victory for himself and Anna by banishing Pauric O at the firepit.
After Carla was voted out at the final Round Table, Pauric headed to the firepit as the sole Traitor, with many fans believing he had a strong alliance with Diego.
However, it was the Faithfuls who prevailed when Diego put his trust in Anna, rewarding the pair with a split prize pot of €45,850.
The losing Traitors were the first to join host Kevin McGahern on Uncloaked after watching the finale, with Pauric immediately asked if he believed Diego was on his side.
The Tipperary native remarked: ‘It’s very easy to say watching it back but I don’t know if I did know or if it was the paranoia absolutely freaking me out.
‘I wasn’t 100% convinced he was on to me but you’re so paranoid that you’re thinking, “he could be” and that was enough to convince me.’
Pauric also had to relive one of the show’s most iconic moments, when Janet realised he had murdered her in plain sight.
The Traitor admitted that he picked the ‘wrong person’ to target, but knew he had to go all out for the game.
After being described as a ‘master manipulator’ by Kevin, Pauric said: ‘There was an awful lot of stuff going on, we were in the castle a hell of a long time.
‘It got to the stage of the game where people’s heads were spinning and I’m a Traitor…what I am gonna do? I’m gonna stir it up so it was a mixture of the Faithfuls going against each other and me and Carla deflecting to the point where we are now – sitting on the couch for the final.’
Meanwhile, Carla was congratulated for making it all the way to the end as an original Traitor, though she admitted that she went into the show hoping to be a Faithful.
The Dubliner was asked about another one of the show’s most shocking moments, when fellow Traitor Aoife wrote her name on the board and ‘tap danced all over it’.
Carla laughed: ‘I deserved it. Pot/kettle. I didn’t actually see her tap the board. When I heard, I was like “noooooo way!”‘
One of the things viewers applauded was how Pauric showed his loyalty to Carla ever since she recruited him to be a Traitor, sticking with her until the very end.
When asked if he was ever tempted to betray her, Pauric said: ‘There were times when I said to her you’re under the heat and I’m not going to put myself under the heat but I would never have thrown Carla under the bus.
‘I love this show. This is my favourite show in years and I wanted to be a Traitor!’
