Matthew McConnaughey has led the tributes to those affected by the devastating flash floods which have impacted his home state of Texas.
So far, 109 people have been confirmed dead from the extreme flash flooding. Many of these people killed were children who had attended an all-girl Christian summer camo for the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
In what has been described as one of the worst freak accidents in the last 100 years, several months of rainfall fell in the space of a few hours after the Guadalupe River burst its banks.
Following this, McConnaughey who born and raised in Texas, wrote on X, “At least 70 lives have been lost, many more are unaccounted for, and countless Texans are hurting – inside and out".
“If you’re able, please lend a helping hand where and how you can,” he added. “It’s gonna be a long road ahead, but right now the shock, the pain, and the chaos need the steady hand of a neighbor", he added. “Texans are some of the most resilient and generous people on the planet".
Other household names paying tribute to those affected also include Lana Del Ray, Billie Eilish, Shakira, Hilary Duff and Miranda Lambert among others.
