Miley Cyrus has described the upcoming 20th anniversary TV special of Hannah Montana a "gift to the fans, but also for me".
The original series, which saw the singer star as Miley Stewart, putting her on the fame map at 13 years old, began in 2006 and ran for four seasons.
In it, Miley Cyrus played Miley Stewart, a normal teenage girl who lived a teenage life as a famous pop singer named Hannah Montana, while trying to conceal her true identity to the public. The show also saw Hannah Montana's father played by Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley's own father.
"It’s such a celebration, the special really is a gift really to the fans but also for me", Cyrus said at the recent premiere of the TV special at the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles. "It’s an amazing different perspective to be out of it but get to be a part of it in a way that I couldn’t when I was so in the middle of the chaos before".
On the night, Cyrus was joined by many stars from the original series, including Jason Earles, Moises Arias, Cody Linley, Anna Maria Perez de Tagle and Shanica Knowles.
The Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special, will stream on Disney+, which will see Cyrus revisit some of her most iconic moments, as well as an in depth interview with Alex Cooper, host of the Call Her Daddy podcast.
The special will also show a behind-the-scenes look at Cyrus' archival collection, featuring familiar faces and surprise guests, as well as special musical performances by Cyrus.
In other news, singer Chappel Roan recently claimed that she has Miley Cyrus to thank for making her the singer she is today.
Speaking to Cyrus during the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special, Roan said: “You literally walked so I could run". More on this story here.
