A documentary about the late Oliva Newton-John is reportedly in the works.
According to reports in Deadline, a new project about the late Hollywood actress is set to be produced for Netflix, directed by filmmaker Nicole Newnham. It is also set to be produced by RJ Cutler and his team at This Machine.
On this film, Nicole Newnham has said that she is excited for fans to see it.
"As a young girl, I fell in love with her, listening to Grease on the record player on repeat," she said. "But this unique filmmaking journey - deep into the archives and into the amazing community of Olivia's close friends and family - has revealed a complex and extraordinary woman whose impact on the world is still rippling outwards", she said.
It has been suggested that this film will explore Newton-John's childhood in England and Australia, along with her career in the music industry. It is also set to look at her rise to fame, which ultimately saw her star alongside John Travolta in the 1978 musical, Grease.
"In her own words, through vivid archival and via reminiscences from close friends and collaborators, we'll follow Olivia's journey as the world falls madly in love with her and she ascends to the height of fame, only to be confronted by challenges of epic proportions," a summary of the film reads. "By discovering how to stay true to her beliefs, Olivia changed our culture for the better, bending it towards kindness, inclusivity, and love".
Olivia Newton-John passed away following a battle with breast cancer aged 73 in 2022, with Kylie Minogue leading the tributes to her at the time. More on this here.
