Pop star Olivia Rodrigo has revealed one of the more unusual aspects of life on tour, saying she has encountered concertgoers who wear diapers in an effort to avoid losing their place at the front of the crowd.

The singer made the comments during an appearance on Kiss FM alongside presenters Tyler West and Chloe Burrows. When asked whether she had experienced any awkward or unexpected moments while performing, Rodrigo pointed to extreme behaviour she has witnessed among fans at concerts and music festivals.

Rather than sharing a personal story, the Grammy-winning artist recalled hearing about attendees who take extraordinary measures to secure a prime viewing position.

“I have been to certain concerts and certain festivals where people wear diapers so that they can be front row of the show,” she said.

Rodrigo went on to explain that the phenomenon is not entirely unfamiliar to performers, joking that it is something she has noticed from the stage.

“That’s been an experience as a performer that I have… smelled,” she added.

The 23-year-old also referenced other major public events where people remain in the same spot for hours at a time. She pointed to New York City’s famous New Year’s Eve celebrations in Times Square, where crowds gather long before midnight to secure a good vantage point.

According to Rodrigo, many attendees are reluctant to leave their place once they have claimed it, leading some to take unusual precautions.

“Everyone is wearing diapers, they sit there all day. I think about it kind of often,” she said.

The comments offered a light-hearted glimpse into the lengths some fans are willing to go to in order to get as close as possible to their favourite performers.

Rodrigo continues to enjoy a hugely successful period in her career following the release of her latest album. The singer is also preparing for a major world tour in 2027, with plans to perform eight consecutive nights at London’s O2 Arena. The run of shows currently represents her only announced headline dates in the UK and is expected to attract significant demand from fans.
