The first teaser trailer from Saipan, a new film looking at the explosive row between Roy Keane and Mick McCarthy during Ireland's World Cup preparations in 2002, has been released.
Directed by Glenn Leyburn and Lisa Barros D'Sa, the film will look at the controversy surrounding the row between former Ireland manager Mick McCarthy and captain Roy Keane, who was dramatically sent home from the training camp ahead of the 2002 World Cup.
This incident divided a nation as to who was to blame for this much publicised fallout, McCarthy or Keane.
The film, Saipan, is being produced by John Keville and Macdara Kelleher of Wild Atlantic Pictures, as well as Trevor Birney and Oliver Butler for Fine Point Films, with Patrick O'Neill, Eoin Egan and Rachel O'Kane as executive producers. It is also made in association with Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland and Northern Ireland Screen.
It has been described as "the definitive account of one of the most fractious fallings-out in the history of sport".
Saipan is to hit Irish cinemas soon.
