Saoirse Ronan's father, Paul, has announced that he has split from his wife Monica Brennan.
Having initially separated in 2015, the couple's divorce was finalised in the last few weeks. The couple got married in 1992, after meeting in the 1980s. Their daughter Saoirse was their only child.
In an interview with the Sunday World, Paul Ronan who plays Anto Collins in Fair City, has said that the divorce has left him feeling a sense of ambivalence.
"The divorce came through a few weeks ago, I feel like, I don’t know, it’s a strange feeling", Ronan said. "The barrister asked me when it was over, "How do you feel?' I said, "I don’t know, it’s a weird feeling, of feeling happy but wanting to cry, sick but wanting to throw up, but wanting to jump for joy".
"It’s just a combination of a bunch of feelings, you know. It’s moving on. I have done that as far as the relationship is concerned, but I am heartbroken about it", he added.
This comes as the former couple's daughter and Oscar winner Saoirse Ronan announced that she was expecting her first child with husband Jack Lowden, whom she married last year.
