The sentencing date for Sean 'Diddy' Combs has been confirmed.
The disgraced rapper was found guilty on two counts of transportation for engaging in prostitution. However, he was cleared of racketeering and sex trafficking at his trial. He had pleaded not guilty to all five charges.
'Diddy' is awaiting sentencing at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, where he has been held on remand since last September.
His legal team had asked Judge Arun Subramanian for an expedited hearing process, having initially rejected the proposed date ahead of a scheduled hearing yesterday. They later agreed to the judge's original proposed date, with sentencing to take place on October 3.
Sean 'Diddy' Combs faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison on these two charges of transportation to engage in prostitution. However, as this is his first conviction, he could receive a more lenient sentence, with his defence pushing for him to be handed a sentence of between 21 and 27 months in prison.
However, prosecutors from the Southern District of New York have stated that sentencing guidelines call for Diddy to receive between 51 and 63 months imprisonment. They added that they would likely be requesting an even longer period.
Last week, Diddy's defence said that there are "exceptional circumstances" warranted expedited sentencing, including the death of Combs' partner Kim Porter in 2018.
In court, defence lawyer Marc Agnifilo said: “The mother of some of his children had passed away many years ago. These kids, the two daughters here sitting in the middle of your honour’s second row, don’t have a parent".
