Cher has reportedly been left “speechless” after discovering she has a 15-year-old granddaughter, bringing to light long-rumoured claims that her son Elijah Blue Allman had a secret child.
The revelation is said to have come during an emotional phone call last year with Kayti Edwards, who claims she had a brief relationship with Allman in 2010 that resulted in the birth of a daughter, Ever.
Edwards—who is also the granddaughter of Julie Andrews—alleged that the iconic singer reached out directly to confirm the long-circulating rumours.
“When she heard the news, she was speechless,” Edwards claimed. “Cher told her family, ‘Oh my God, I’m finally a grandma.’”

According to Edwards, Allman was aware of the child from the beginning but chose not to take on a parental role. “He always knew from day one, but he never wanted to be a parent,” she said, adding that he would occasionally visit over the years but remained distant. “He would pop in every couple of years but would just say hello.”
The situation reportedly came to wider attention in 2021, when Allman suffered a drug overdose and later disclosed the existence of the child to his now-estranged wife, Marieangela King.
Edwards claims the information then spread within the family, although Cher initially dismissed it.
It wasn’t until a further health scare in 2023 that the story resurfaced, prompting Cher to contact Edwards directly. “She wanted to know what had happened and then she asked me if it was true regarding Ever,” Edwards alleged.

Despite the shock, the 79-year-old singer has reportedly since made efforts to build a relationship with her granddaughter. Edwards said she and Ever were invited to stay at Cher’s home in Malibu, California, in September 2025, describing the experience as warm and welcoming.
“She was lovely and kind and we had dinner,” Edwards said. “Cher asked Ever if she wanted to see her closet and showed her a pair of jeans she had worn in concert. It was a cool experience for her.”
She added that the star showed a playful side during their visit, saying: “They played in the pool and she spoke to Ever about school and asked her about boys. She was like a kid herself.”
The claims have not been publicly confirmed by Cher’s representatives.
The reports come amid ongoing concerns surrounding Allman’s wellbeing.
Cher recently filed a legal request seeking a temporary conservatorship over her son, citing serious issues related to his health, finances, and substance use.
Court documents reportedly state that his condition has “significantly deteriorated” in recent years, with incidents including hospitalisation following an overdose.
